I went for a small walk with my dog today – up by Maridalsvannet in Oslo. It’s not far from where we live, but still offers a fairly sheltered experience of the woods. There aren’t a lot of people there either before the snow settles, just the odd trekker – so we got the woods to ourselves. Not twenty minutes into our adventure we came across the tracks of a small red fox, fairly common in these parts and through most of Norway.

We followed them for a bit, but they were several hours old and we decided on a roaring spruce bonfire instead of a hunt doomed to failure before it even began. A beatiful day nevertheless, although we’re really looking forward to snowfall and skiing-season!
